Cansel Vatansever
Dr. Cansel Vatansever, postdoctoral researcher at the Koç University İşBank Center for Infectious Diseases (KUISCID), and her thesis advisor Prof. Dr. Füsun Can, School of Medicine, have been awarded the ” Doctoral Dissertation of the Year Award in Health and Sports” by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for their research “Pseudomonas aeruginosa ST235 High-Risk Clone’s Unique Adaptive Response Mechanisms to Colistin Stress”. Their research focuses on a high-risk pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which causes severe infections in hospitals and is known for its multidrug resistance. This study discovered a unique iron uptake system in the ST235 high-risk clone that will facilitate the development of drugs against the bacteria.
