Meeting with Kosovo President

Upon invitation of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, Prof. Önder Ergönül, Assoc. Prof. Şiran Keske and Specialist Dr. Bilgin Sait joined a reception in held in İstanbul and had a meeting with Sadriu and his accompanying committee. Current situation in the COVID-19 pandemic was discussed along with the other upcoming joint projects. Previously, KUISCID researchers had a meeting with medical doctors of Kosovo in Pristina which was organized by Prof. Önder Ergönül to exchange COVID-19 updates in September, 15^th 2021.

Our researchers discussed current studies on “Up to date topics in microbiota researches” in KLIMIK (Turkish Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Microbiota Session as well as sharing the recent findings of KUISCID with Prof. Füsun Can being the moderator of the session.

Meeting With Our Collaborator Researchers

Center researchers organized a meeting with our collaborator medical doctors already carrying out featured researches to have a discussion on current data and future goals of our internationally funded projects. Current situation of antibiotic resistance in Turkey was evaluated as well as the potent solutions and improvements. Profiling the resistance situation in collaboration with our national networks will provide an evident opportunity for finding relevant solutions to public health threats.

Award From National Congress

All KUISCID researchers attended KLIMIK (Turkish Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Congress in which 9 different projects of KUISCID were presented as oral presentations by our researchers Dr. Gülen Esken and Dr. Nazlı Ataç, our PhD students Cansel Vatansever, Gülin Özcan, Jale Boral, Zeynep Gülçe Talay and Master students Zeynep Ece Kuloğlu ve Kübra Çam . Cansel Vatansever won the best presentation award in 3^rd place with her presentation “Iron uptake mechanisms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa high risk clone ST235”. We congratulate our researchers.

Young Researcher Award

Our researcher Özlem Doğan was awarded with Prof. Dr. Enver Tali Çetin Young Researcher award in KLIMIK (Turkish Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) Congress with the study “Virulence Determinants of Colistin-Resistant K. pneumoniae High-Risk Clones”. We congratulate our researcher and all members who took part in the study.

ENIUS Workshop

ENIUS (European Network of multidisciplinary research to Improve the Urinary Stents) Management Committee meeting was held with Füsun Can organizing the meeting in Legacy Ottoman Hotel. Management Committee meeting was followed by a workshop for young researchers, in which our researcher Dr. Nazlı Ataç has also given a speech titled “Nanoparticle based approaches against uropathogens”.

PUBLICATION

Meta-analysis: Combined Antibiotic Therapy in Bloodstream Infections

Our undergraduate medical students published a meta-analysis “A meta-analysis for the role of aminoglycosides and tigecyclines in combined regimens against colistin- and carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae bloodstream infections”. The paper was published in European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases under the supervision of Prof. Önder Ergönül. We congratulate our students.
