Is Early Prognosis of COVID-19 Possible?
Since COVID-19 pandemic, although several studies were conducted to find parameters showing the prognosis of the disease, further research is still required. KUISCID researchers, in collaboration with Prof. Nurhan Özlü’s team have published their study related to alterations in host cell proteins following COVID-19 infection in the journal of “Proteomics Clinical Applications”. Plasma proteomes of COVID-19 patients from Turkey were systematically analyzed using mass spectrometry. Various severity grades (moderate, severe, and critical) were monitorized within different periods of the disease (early, inflammatory, and recovery). Significant alterations in protein expressions were considered to reconstruct the COVID-19 associated network that was further extended to connect viral and host proteins. Findings of the study points out the significance of detailed monitoring of biomarkers to find new therapeutic agents for early prognosis of infections.
We congratulate all our researchers.
