SYMPOSIUM

Update on Emerging Infections

KUISCID, in collaboration with ESCMID (European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases), will host the international symposium of “Current situation in infectious diseases” organized by EITaF (Emerging Infections Task Force) that is a study group of ESCMID. Symposium will take place on January, 19 and 20th at Haliç Congress Center.

PUBLICATION

COVID-19 is Still a Public Health Threat

While COVID-19 infection is still an ongoing public health threat, current evaluations of the COVID-19 consortium of 386 researchers from 112 countries have been published in Nature.

Award from Congress

The 40th microbiology congress of Turkish Society of Microbiology (TMC) took place in Antalya in which Prof. Önder Ergönül and Prof. Füsun Can both chaired sessions. KUISCID researchers Dr. Gülen Esken, Dr. Cansel Vatansever, and PhD student Jale Boral have presented five different projects in the congress.

Dr. Cansel Vatansever’s presentation “The role of pyoverdine system on virulence and pathogenesis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ST235 clone” was awarded 1st place. We congratulate all our researchers.

Our Article is one of the 15 Highlighted Articles

Our article “Broad spectrum antibacterial photodynamic and photothermal therapy achieved with indocyanine green loaded SPIONs under near infrared irradiation” was selected as one of the highlighted articles of Europe in the theme collection of Biomaterials Science 10th Anniversary. We congratulate all our researchers.

Capturing the Pandemic Moments

Challenging two years of COVID-19 pandemic was depicted by snapshots, under the organization of Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) photo contest. Capture of Assoc. Prof. Şiran Keske and Dr. Bilgin Sait were selected as one of the best 5 snapshots, demonstrating the discussion for COVID-19 stewardship in the intensive care unit of Abdullah Nakkaş Hospital, Bosnia Herzegovina. We congratulate all our researchers who were always fighting on the frontline against COVID-19.

Emerging Infectious Diseases and Science in Turkey

Prof. Önder Ergönül gave a speech on “Emerging infections and science opportunities in Turkey”’ in the Science Academy conference series. Role of Turkey in infectious diseases was discussed as well as the research facilities in all their aspects within the session.

KUISCID Initiates Zero Waste Project in the Center

KUISCID organized a meeting with the KU-Occupational Health and Safety department in order to discuss how KUISCID can contribute to the Zero Waste project. In the aim of initiating the recycling process both in offices and the labs, all steps of waste disposal and appropriate separation were taken into account as well as the first action was the removal of trash bins from offices. KUISCID is very happy to announce the initiation of the Zero Waste project in the center.
