Infectious Diseases After Devastating Disasters: Threats and Precautions

KUISCID, as well as many other institutions, continues to take its part for healing after the heartbreaking earthquake occurred on the 6th of February in Turkey. Unfortunate outcomes of such earthquakes are the construction damages and the disrupted sanitation conditions which trigger the possible outbreaks of infectious diseases. Rational strategies must be followed together with scientific evidence to rapidly provide appropriate solutions in the name of avoiding the spread of such diseases.

Our article related to disease monitoring and providing solutions accordingly, was published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

Pandemic, Vaccination and Risk Groups: A Multi-Centered Study

It is evident that the first and only precaution is vaccination. Immunosuppressant patients, however, might have altered vaccine responses and they are more prone to be infected by the virus. KUISCID researchers have completed their study “BNT162b2 or CoronaVac as the Third Dose against Omicron: Neutralizing Antibody Responses among Transplant Recipients Who Had Received Two Doses of CoronaVac”and published it in Viruses Journal.
