Fusun Can, MD is an professor of medical microbiology at  Koc University School of Medicine. She graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 1989 and completed her residency in 1996 at Ankara University, Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology in Ankara,Turkey. She worked as a research fellow in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Florida School of Medicine, USA. She is specialized in the molecular epidemiology of emerging bacterial and viral pathogens, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and biofilm related infections. She is Vice Director of Koc University Research Center for Infectious Diseases (KUISCID) and Director of Microbiology Research Laboratory with Biosafety Level III and Biosafety Level II Units. She is Associate Editor of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Journal (IDCM).
